marinabrid Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 hi all, not our galaxy at fault this time but i hope some clever bod can help, my car the peugeot 406 1.9 td has developed a strange habit.the cooing fan which i believe is ecu operated comes on sometimes when the engine is cold or bieng driven normaly the temp gauge works ok and its not overheating , from cold the other day it came on as soon as i started the car, then it goes on and off intermitanlty during driving. it letsd the car get to temp then comes on and off also. ive swopped the sensor for the coolant temp but it still happens, ive tried disconnecting the sensor when running it still the same, also these cars have a stop warning light on the dash to which the coolant and oil pressure are part off and this comes on and off with the fan.any help gratefully recieved thanks Quote
Guest bosbax Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 the only time iv'e had a problem similar to this was on a ford orion, after days of "faffin" around, it turned out to be a bad earth to the fan which sometimes would also cause the windscreen washers to switch on ,very strange. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Have recently heard a few odd stories surrounding 406 cooling fans; is there a Pug forum you can visit as the answer is bound to be known and widely awailable to Pug drivers. Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Aircon not on by any chance is it?? Unless the a/c is set to off/econ, the fans will run all the time to ensure a suffiecient airflow over the aircon heat exchanger.. Mike Quote
